LA-Long Beach Closed Due to Labor Action
2023-04-09
Dear Valued Customer,
The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach have been closed due to a walkout staged by members of the ILWU. According to media reports this action is likely due to the unending ILWU-PMA contract negotiations, which have been on-going since last May.
At the moment, no one knows when either port will be reopened.
Since this is the second staged labor stoppage at a West Coast port in the last month, we are continuing to advise our clients to avoid all West Coast ports and route their goods through East and Gulf Coast ports.
Please reach out to your dedicated client solutions representative if you have any questions or concerns about how this situation may impact your shipment(s). Our advisors can help coordinate alternative plans.
Sincerely yours,
OEC Group
